The Volcano Gate, 1999, Centre Regional D´Art, Sete, France

In collaboration with Ragna Robertsdottir

The premise of the work is the belief in the Middle Ages that the gate to hell was through the crater of
the Hekla volcano in Iceland.

I perceive emissive noise-sound from the FM receiver to be the basic sound of the work. It is sent through a programmer which divides it into two rotating channels and forms two parallel circles around 16 loudspeakers warping the sound to Ragna Róbertsdóttir's pumice-work.

Material: 16 loudspeakers, amplifiers, programmer, FM-receiver Pumice from Hekla glued directly onto the wall.
